Data Center Hosting & Service Level Agreement

Sage HRMS is available in three main hosting options:

Option 1: Self-Hosted / On-Premises With complete control over the data on-site, the client is responsible for hardware procurement, as well as management and maintenance of both the hardware and software.

  • Server and Software – the client can choose to install Sage HRMS onto an existing server but the purchase of a new unit is more common so as to avoid potential technical difficulties that having multiple business applications on a single server can incur. The client is also responsible for supporting software licenses such as SQL Server, Windows, XP, Microsoft Office, backup, antivirus, firewalls, etc...
  • Data Center - the data is stored and managed at the client's location.
  • Server Management – the client manages the server and backups, as well as performs all server software installations.

Option 2: Managed Server-in-a-Box Sage partner firm Applianz offers this solution which is something of a hybrid between traditional on-premises deployment and the fully-hosted option.

  • Server and Software – the client effectively receives a packaged bundle including a server pre-configured with the operating system.
  • Data Center - the server may be hosted on-site by the customer or remotely by Applianz.
  • Server-related Software Installation - all software is managed by Applianz.
  • Server Management - Applianz takes care of automatic off site backups, remote access, network monitoring, and system replacement.

Option 3: Hosted Managed Solution Sage uses nGenX as a hosting partner, providing the Sage HRMS software in a virtual environment, eliminating the need for an individually-deployed server. Clients access their licensed Sage HRMS software and hosted data remotely through the nGenX data center.

  • Server and Software - nGenX is responsible for providing the server and software.
  • Data Center - nGenX manages the data center environment (ping and power).
  • Server-related Software Installation - nGenX manages all software.
  • Server Management - nGenX performs automatic offsite backups, remote access, network monitoring, and system replacement.

Sage confirm that nGenX’s data centers are SSAE 16 (previously SAS70 Type II) certified; however, it is worth noting that that an ISO 27001 certification was lacking (ISO 27001 consists of a prescriptive set of 131 internal controls and is the leading global certification for data center operations). Due to the lack of this certificate, assessment of Sage’s – or rather nGenX’s – data handling, internal controls, uptime assurance and information security related to data center management may be significantly more difficult for the prospective client.

That said, a data center service level agreement (SLA) is provided and does guarantee a minimum uptime as well as financial credits for any situations that fall outside of those SLA guidelines. However, specific details about those guarantees and credits were not disclosed by the vendor.

Sage HRMS Software Pricing

Specific pricing is often only available from vendors in response to a specific set of client requirements and Sage declined to disclose pricing for the Sage HRMS software. However, the company did indicate that the pricing model is based on active employees population in the database, the number/type of modules purchased, and choice of hosting/deployment option. Further, the HR software is not available in a SaaS subscription pricing model, so traditional software licensing and annual maintenance fees apply.
